Chapter 17 – The Lord’s Prayer

Jesus Prays For Himself v. 1-5
• The glory of God and Jesus are the same.
• Jesus is given authority over all life so that eternal life will be given to us.
• Jesus is set to complete the work of the Father.

Principles:
The glory of God and the glory of Jesus and the glory of the Holy Spirit are one and the same.
Jesus has all authority.

Questions:
How is the authority of Jesus glorified in your life?
How is Jesus continuing to complete the work that He has started in you?

Jesus Prays For His Disciples 6-19
• Jesus reveals Himself to His disciples.
• Jesus prays for the protection of His disciples.
• Jesus prays to sanctify His disciples.

Principles:
Jesus reveals Himself to those that are close to Him.
Jesus protects.
Jesus sanctifies.

Sanctify:
1. To set apart for sacred use; consecrate.
2. To make holy; purify.
3. To make productive of holiness or spiritual blessing.

Questions:
How are you being sanctified in the Lord?

Jesus Prays For The Church 20-26
• The prayer of Jesus for the disciples is extended to us and the Church.
• It is God’s desire that all would come to believe.
• The work of Jesus will continue (ref v.26)

Principles:
God cares for the lost and for those who carry His message.

Questions:
How are we participating in the intent of God’s will that all would come to believe on Him? (i.e. How are we carrying this message to the lost?)
